Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, repeated last year’s success and defended their title in Zurich classics. Although it was a good baseline to succeed before the final stage, this famous duo did not manage to win. In the end, Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin won a shot before the Hojgaard twins in this tournament.
After the tournament, McIlroy shared the impressions of the tournament and was not good enough after returning to the golf course after the storm. The weather caused mass problems for them, and the two did not find answers to such problems.
“Yes, when we started with again, it was simply difficult to buy something,” said McIlroy, as quoted News Week.
“We found that the green was very fast and quite firm after the delay, so it was a little hardened.”
Due to the storm, the two were a few strokes behind the leader and seemed to get the pace when it continues. But there was something completely opposite.
The 11th hole missed a bird’s chances and McIlroy realized that this point was the turning point. Northern Ireland can hold the rhythm, but unfortunately, many things stood in their way.
“We still felt that we were a good chance, and did not make Birdie in 11 and then we boged 13 again this week,” he said.
Exciting tournament
The tournament fans brought everything they want: a quality golf, an interesting atmosphere and an exciting resulting. Novak and Griffin should have to hold rhythm to the end of the target. It is the first professional victory for both and perhaps the announcement of greater success for them in the future.
Rory McIlroy is not much worried after the last tournament, and he knows that many tournaments are before.
