We spend the first full week end of each month in 2025 with inshaued inscriptions from Gretchen Rubin in the New York Times Bestseller book, Project of happiness. Rubin is being investigated every month in a certain issue or aspect of happiness every month. In particular, it combined practical strategies and impressive concepts to develop a more performing and joyful life. Many of the techniques described in the book can be applied to tennis. Two topics for April “lightened” and “parenting”.

Tennis parent is a subject, I will be ashamed forever. The time held in small tournaments with my daughter, did not give a great wisdom to pass to others, but the angle of “I didn’t do these mistakes” was not so terrible. Experience some great moments and some … not. Small shifts do not require great effort, but it can completely change your energy and in the first place it helps you to re-contact you with joy.

We should all try to get upset and try to rediscover the simple joy of playing sports. Tennis may be serious, tight and even annoying, but it may be playful, social and deeply pleased when it allows you to be. We can change our thinking and stay open for these light moments, it is more likely to return to court with a smile.

So try to treat your April, your matches, your experience and teachings with a little less pressure and a little more interest. Say “Have fun” before the first service. Find joy in the invalidity of playing a good rhythm or in a windy day. Let tennis be a reminder that joy is not forced to win. Happiness shows that we are fully presented, we will have fun and take ourselves or sports very seriously. Make it easier.
