The British Dan Evans lost Russian Karen Xachanova in the first round of the Dubai Free Tennis Championship.
Evans, who received a wild card for the tournament, won five years of previous sessions, including a five-and-a-half-hour classics last year.
However, 6-1 6-3 No. 24 of Xachanov 24 won the number 24 in 20 minutes.
Greek fourth seeds will face Stefanos Tsitsipas or Italian Lorenzo Songo in the second round.
