Key City – Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC) Fikvilya Mbalula, the cuts of ministries will not be enough to finance South Africa’s R2.7 trillion budget.
After the budget speech, the 2026/27 fiscal year was placed in the increase of up to 15.5% of up to 16% VAT.
Mbalula, VAT increase was the only solution to continue to finance critical programs of the government. Minister Enoch Godongwana said that he supported the budget proposals, which was lifted, Broom reported.

In response to this, Mbalula said there were a large number of cuts to the ministers over the years.
“Even in the s / s budgets, these cuts continue. Cut, we have not been new to GNU, we have seen an increase in the cabinet when we see a decline in purpose,” he said.
He explained that the ministers were affected by the cuts and reduced the government’s expenses.
“The ministers used to drive in the R1 million, the perks of R500.000 were taken as credit cards. Flying arrangements: Ministers are also a flying economy.
According to him, he said that there are cuts in support of personnel for international visits and the ministers have approved only the most important international visits.
Added that the ministers are now taxed when there are more than two property and said that these ministers do not have different work.
